Asia Pacific corporate chiefs more confident about short-term outlook

Corporate chiefs in the Asia Pacific region are more confident than their counterparts elsewhere that business can still grow in the short term, despite the economic slowdown.

According to a survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers, over a third of CEOs in the region says they are very confident of growing revenues in the following 12 months. In contrast, only a fifth of CEOs globally felt this way.

However, Asia Pacific CEOs are still less confident now compared to a year ago.

Nearly 70 per cent said their investment plans will be affected by higher financing costs and restricted access to finance, resulting in delays in planned investments.

Eight in 10 surveyed also said they were concerned that further disruptions in the capital markets will adversely affect business growth.
